There is an awkward thing I’ve discovered about organizational planning:
Many times, I’ve observed leaders fighting for a single headcount,
and I never understood why.
The complexity of our products requires cross-functional teams, with a variety of competencies.
The successful launch of a product goes even beyond the team’s boundaries.
Therefore, a single product manager here, or another product designer there, doesn’t add value.
And adding people to existing teams won’t necessarily result in more output.
The logical unit leaders should be fighting for is a team.
Remember, to launch a product teams count, not individuals.
Don’t agree?
